As COVID cases rise around the country and shops and restaurants struggle to keep abreast of the ever-changing rules and regulations that affect us at short notice, Taste Tibet looks towards opening our first fixed site in East Oxford. Many of you express concern, and sure – this ain’t the dream time for it! But to be clear: we have never conceived of this space as a restaurant, but rather an extension of what you already associate with Taste Tibet: big portions of clean comfort food in an informal environment, with plenty of take-home options for both immediate consumption or a feeding of the freezer.
And in many ways we feel fortunate, as we are able to make our new premises COVID compliant from the outset. A new window is going in this week to allow for improved ventilation in the cafe space. We have plenty of exciting outdoor seating options, and we are even working on ideas for food service direct from the windows of our cafe kitchen. All this in addition to all the boring but really important stuff such as risk assessments and scenario planning. We are confident that we will be able to stay open even if Oxford shuts down.
If you have ideas or suggestions for our new place before we finalise our layout and plans please do get in touch. We are also happy to answer any questions you might have about our menu, future plans etc. We always try to be as open book as possible, so don’t be shy!
And if you prefer, please come and ask us in person. We will have all spoils outside Silvie on Friday and Saturday evenings again this week, 5-9pm. Next week we, like the children, will be on half term, so make sure you stock up this weekend and make space in your freezer.
Looking forward to seeing you soon, and do keep checking in on us for news. You can follow us on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Shop signage is going up soon – you definitely don’t want to miss that!
