The Sublime to the Ridiculous

Our cookbook came out last Thursday – you know all about that now. We spent a perfect blue sky day in London doing interviews, a book signing at the Official Bookseller to the Royal Household, and enjoying a scrumptious celebratory lunch.

This otherworldly existence did not last long. During the afternoon we got a call from one of our front-of-house staff. He was in A&E with a dog bite, an injury that put him out of action for the rest of the weekend.

No one else was available to fill the Thursday, Friday Saturday shifts, so step forwards Mrs Taste Tibet! On the day of our big moment I found myself back behind the counter, where I remained, juggling radio interviews with waiting tables, all weekend.

Things have certainly gone from the sublime to the ridiculous. Yesterday we took part in a panel discussion on “Future-Proofing your Business” at the London Excel Better Hospitality Conference. We appeared via live video link, during which the Taste Tibet phone rang very loudly not once but twice – a major TV personality wanted to book a table for dinner on Saturday night.

It’s sharing tables as you know, folks, so if you fancy coming down to rub shoulders with real celebs then Saturday night it is! A reminder that we don’t take table bookings (not even for people off the telly), so please just rock up when the hunger calls.

We’re holding a launch for our book this evening, so we will be closed on Wednesday 23rd March to allow for a little R&R. Open as usual Thursday-Saturday though, as follows:

Thursday – Saturday: 12-3pm (lunch) & 5-9.30pm (dinner)

Our menu is live on the website now. Come for takeaway, to dine in. This is our final No Commission week with Foodstuff so if you’re not celeb-spotting this weekend do order in! The code MOMO is still good for £10 off your first TWO orders (minimum order value £20).

And don’t forget our freezer food. We are well stocked with a great range of specials and regular menu items – come forage.

Finally, thank you. So many of you bought the Taste Tibet cookbook that after publication we made the top spot on Amazon (Chinese Food and Drink category!). You are all awesome. As a reward, Yeshi is offering a free momo-making class to three lucky winners of this competition. Have you entered yet? Closes midnight tomorrow – good luck!

Looking forward to seeing you soon,

Julie and Yeshi
