Yeshi and I met on a mountain path in northern India on Friday 13th November 2009. For as long as we’ve been together it has been a dream of ours to open a place – somewhere warm and cosy serving the best Tibetan comfort food around. This Friday 13th November, exactly 11 years after we first met, we are finally doing it!
It has taken us years to find the right spot, and many months to bring our ideas to life. We never imagined we could be opening under such challenging conditions, and will need to wait a little longer before we can serve the full menu we have in mind. But finally, after years serving out of a gazebo in Oxford’s Gloucester Green and many summers on the road at music festivals up and down the land – we have walls!
In non-COVID times we would throw a big party and Yeshi would dress up and make barley beer, but things being as they are this will be the softest of launches. There will be freebies – Tibetan butter tea for all who fancy it – but we are keeping our deals and discounts sensible so as not to cause a COVID riot. But fear not! We will keep the offers going over the next few weeks – just make sure that you are signed up to our mailing list so that you can claim them. Secret passwords lie within…
From today we are automatically entering everyone who signs up to the mailing list, follows our social media pages (Instagram, Facebook and Twitter), tags a friend or shares or retweets a post into a prize draw. If you fancy taking home a family-sized box of momos next week, make sure that you are in the game!
We are opening our doors at 5pm this Friday! Takeaways will be go from 5-8.30pm on both Friday and Saturday evenings. Next week you will have even more to look forward to when we up our days and possibly hours… The longer term plan is to offer lunch as well as dinner on the days that we are open, but we are in a watch-and-see situation at the moment, especially while we are only able to operate as a takeaway.
Looking forward to seeing everyone soon at 109 Magdalen Road OX4 1RQ!
