Oxford Reopens

Braindead musings this afternoon after a night on the tiles in London. Our cookbook, Taste Tibet, was shortlisted in the Best International or Regional Cookbook category of the Guild of Food Writers Awards, and we enjoyed donning the glad rags and hobnobbing with some of the best food and drinks writers in the country at the Royal Institution in Mayfair (less so the bumpy – and sobering – journey back on the Oxford Tube at midnight).

What an incredible honour and achievement to be nominated alongside some of our industry heroes! Congratulations to Eleanor Ford who won the award with her gobsmackingly beautiful book, The Nutmeg Trail, and to Emiko Davies, who also made the shortlist. More photos of the night over on our Instagram, including Guild patron Delia Smith! (Did not manage to get close enough to Mary Berry, more’s the pity).

The last couple of weeks have been a crazy whirlwind of publicity for Taste Tibet – not bad given that the flagship store has actually been closed since the end of July. Thank you to Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch for giving us prime-time telly time (here on catch up at 1 hr 22 mins for those of you who missed it) and to BBC Radio 4 for having us on to blather about our favourite subject of all (tune in to this week’s The Food Programme [we’re on at 8 mins 30 secs] to find out what this might be).

We are absolutely over the moon to announce that we’re reopening the restaurant on Magdalen Road tomorrow, Friday, after a fantastic summer of festivals. We really hope that you’ll join us for a sunny weekend of momos + all your other faves. Our opening hours this week are as follows:

Friday: 5-9.30pm (dinner only)
Saturday: 12-3 (lunch) / 5-9.30pm (dinner)

This week’s menu is out now – check it! You can grab a Buddha Beer and dine with us or take away for a night at home. Freezers are stocked too with plenty of Chicken Curry, Sesame Chicken and other marvellous midweek meals. Come forage!

Thank you to everyone for bearing with us while we fed the festival masses. We are really looking forward to seeing you all.

Till soon!

Julie and Yeshi
