Shifting Sands

We are coming to the end of a long lockdown made up of all kinds of rules that many of us, even with the best of intentions, couldn’t really fathom. For those of us trying to run a food businesses there was guidance, but much of the day-to-day of navigating COVID was left to our best hunches.

Constantly shifting sands. So we’re glad that we didn’t install massive screens at our counter, for example, as the guidance now states that these can potentially block air flow and lead to an increase in transmission. (Instead we forked out £1k – we kid you not – on the low glass screen that ensures, at least, that nobody can lean in and get too close).

We also know now that coronavirus does not spread easily from objects or surfaces. We are looking forward to welcoming back your containers from home in time, and we are hoping to roll out a reusable tiffin scheme that will reduce waste even further.

Our original concept for the indoor Taste Tibet dining space was to have everybody sitting together at long tables. We’d love to hear from you about whether or not you’re ready for us to start revisiting this idea. In fact, if you have any suggestions for us at this point about our current or future operations please do get in touch.

We’re not planning to shake things up for the time being, but watch this space for any changes! For now, the only one to note is that we will be closed 28-31 July for a much needed holiday, and then there may be a festival or two coming up at the end of August that will mean that we shut our doors for a couple of weekends later in the summer. More on that later.

Meantime huge thanks to everyone who has placed their trust in us and respected our house rules over this last long while. Thank you for coming out even when the situation was scary. Thank you for supporting us in your droves!

We are open for takeaway or indoor/outdoor dining as usual this week. Our menu is live on the website now. Here’s a run-down of our opening hours:

Wednesday: 5.30-9.30pm (dinner only)
Thursday – Saturday: 12-3pm (lunch) / 5.30-9.30pm (dinner)

We don’t take table bookings but you can pre-order your evening takeaway any time from 4.30pm on the day. Call us on 01865499318. The best time to ring is before we open at 5.30pm.

Thank you and see you soon!
