Weds 5-9.30pm 🍴  Thurs-Sat 12-3pm / 5-9.30pm

Thank You!

Keeping this week’s check-in brief. It’s been a whirlwind few days/weeks and there’s a backlog of normal life stuff to deal with – anyone have a reliable source for Lucky Buddha Beer, for example? Or want to process the payroll? Believe me, it’s not all glamorous.

Anyway we just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who nominated us for the prestigious BBC Food and Farming Awards. We travelled to London on Wednesday night for the ceremony. It was Yeshi’s first time inside the BBC and there were more than a few “pinch me” moments. Except of course that nothing really fazes this man who walked for twenty-four days and nights across the Himalayas, has upped sticks twice in his life, and learned countless new languages and skills along the way.

We didn’t come away with the prized chopping board (the gong went to Greidys Wings and Strips) but we are so proud to have placed in the Top 3 Street Food or Takeaways in the whole of the UK! Thank you very much to everyone for your incredible support. Knowing how much you value and cherish us means everything, and it drives us to continue to be the best that we can be.

We had a fantastic night in London meeting many inspiring people, especially Greidys. We are proud of the free meals initiative, we run weekly in conjunction with Oxford Mutual Aid (and which the wider Taste Tibet community – that’s you! – generously support) but Greidys do the arguably harder work of helping to bring underprivileged young people into the world of food. We have tried the same through the government’s Kickstart Scheme and it’s been challenging, so hats off to Greidys who are worthy winners. There is so much more that could be said – if you want to hear us wax lyrical, tune in to last Saturday’s Sophie Law’s BBC Radio Oxford show – we were on at 2 hours 53 minutes.

And the Taste Tibet community is widening! We are blown away by the distances people are now travelling to dine with us. Last week the prize went to a couple from Liverpool who built a whole weekend in Oxford around their visit to Taste Tibet. Soon we may have to hand out real prizes…

We are open our usual hours this week, as follows:

Wednesday: 5-9.30pm (dinner only)

Thursday -Saturday: 12-3pm (lunch) / 5-9.30pm (dinner)

Come for takeaway, to dine in (no bookings) or home delivery through Foodstuff. This week’s menu is live on the website now.

Looking forward to seeing you soon!
