At the Tibetan-run schools in India, the playground walls are emblazoned with the words “Others Before Self”. This way of living is ingrained in Buddhist society and thought.
When we first started running the Taste Tibet stall in Oxford’s open market, feeding people who couldn’t afford to buy our food was just as important to us as making back the rent. Before the pandemic we donated food to charities supporting homeless people in Oxford. During the first Covid lockdown of 2020 we diverted these efforts to support NHS frontline workers.
Today we are proud Kitchen Collective partners of Oxford Mutual Aid, a local grassroots community support group and action network that formed in Oxford in response to the Covid19 crisis.
Every week Taste Tibet provides 50-100 meals to vulnerable people in our community through Oxford Mutual Aid. You can donate towards this effort by purchasing vouchers through this site or donating in store.
All contributions received go towards producing fresh, healthy meals for the people in our community who need them most. Your donations cover the cost of ingredients, packaging, transportation and hygiene supplies.
